Sofya is ONE

Sofya turned one last Saturday. Nope! No party. Ordered a beautiful ( and delicious!) rainbow cake to be enjoyed with the family.

We spent the morning at my uncle's kenduri. Then went to the swimming pool in the afternoon. Sofya was on duty as the poolside girl, lol! And when we collected her cake at BakesNBites, she was fast asleep. When we all sang 'Happy Birthday' she slept through it and didn't move a bone. Haha! By the time she woke up and posed with her cake, it was half gone!

To our dearest princess, mami & ayah doakan Sofya menjadi anak yg solehah, di dalam keredhaan Allah sentiasa. Moga kebahagiaan sentiasa bersamamu. Amin.

February 27, 2013

7, eight, 9, ten,11...Hmm.. let's just fast forward everything to February 2013 shall we

Whooooaaaa..I'm wayyy behind!

My cik kak is now 11 and a half months old! Still hairless, toothless but can stand still without support for like half a minute and have started to take baby steps. She loves to eat (she will go to anyone she sees chewing haha!) and very good at imitating. But one thing I can say about her is that she's a very manja girl  (and a garang one too. Shhhh!).

Kimi is in standard four now (Wow! Time really flies!). Hafiy who turned 6 last January goes to a new kindy this year. Akif and Sofya stays with mommy and become mommy's little helper . Erkkk...yayy? Lol!

My sister got married early this month. Alhamdulillah, everything went well. I was the 'event manager' for that meaningful day..so I'm sure you can imagine how hectic life was for me few weeks back.
Nevertheless, I still make time to sew for my cik kak. Her attire for the whole event was fully sponsored by Itsy Doodles hehe. (In return she has to agree to model for Itsy Doodles) *big grin*

So..these are what I sewn for her...

Everyday Play Dress for majlis akad nikah (solemnization)

May Dress (square neck) reception on our side (bride's)

Tinkerbell top (shirred sleeves & waist), Skirt and a new hat

For the time being..I think Sofya has more than enough dress to wear. So I guess I won't be sewing her anything anytime soon. *I hope I can refrain. LOL!*

Wedding, Birthday and Quarantined!

Wedding..... My cousin Adil got married to his sweetheart Nadiah end of August. The reception on our family side took place early in September. It was held at the Putrajaya Wetland. The whole thing was beautiful..the day itself, the place, the set up, espcially the bride and groom.

To the bride & groom. Though this entry came two months late, if by any chance any one of you is reading this, we wish you two a happy and blessed marriage here and till the hereafter, insyaAllah.

Birthday... Akif, my busuk masam turned 3 on 25th September. Here is a picture of me & him during last raya. From a very quiet boy, he has now become very chatty... ever since he become a big brother. A very loving and protective brother towards his baby sister. The same with my other children, in my heart, I know he is gong to be a great son, brother, person. Mami and Ayah prays only the best for you dear...

Quarantined... Two weeks after the wedding, Sofya was down with chicken pox. Kimi and Hafiy are already immune. Both had theirs in 2008. Alhamdulillah, Sofya had a mild one. Most came out either on her face or inside her diaper area. Still it took about two weeks for all to dried up. She (and me, of course!) were quarantined for two weeks. I had mentally prepared myself to take care of two chicken pox babies in case Akif got infected too. Made him drinks Air Kelapa but nothing came out.

And when all Sofya's spots have cleared, and I was about to celebrate my 'freedom', Hubs spotted one teenie tiny spot on Akif's foot. And we were all quarantined again, for another two weeks. Anyway, I'm glad it is all over now. Chicken pox is after all a childhood disease. Since they are very young, scars disappear fast. Today, about a month after..the spots you see in the pic below are now hardly visible.

Quick update on Sofya:-
Weighs 7.3 kg at 6 months. She was introduced to solid at 6 months 3 weeks. Her 1st solid food was plain rice porridge. Loves exploring and manage to get herself 'far' by slithering on her stomach. She's a very determine girl!

And last..( yes..I'm cramping all in one post hehehe)..here's Itsy Doodles new label. Clean and simple. And I love it very much. Thank you to Aiya from Insang Pari, who was very patience with my 'cerewetness' on the design so that I get exactly what I want and how I want it with my label.

*LOVE*

Birthday and Raya in August

Yess..I'm still a little behind with my posts. Still on one-week-one-post on what took place during the months my blog were left untouched hehe. This post covers August happenings. So one more post (on September), then I'll be on track (if I don't get side tracked ;).

Celebrated my thirty fourth birthday in August.  I'm thankful and blessed with everything I have..life, family, everything! Wishing I'm given more & more blessed moments like the ones I had for many many more years to come. And that day by day I'll be a better person - daughter, wife, mother, friend but most importantly, a better 'abd, insyaAllah.

Raya Aidilfitri came about a week after my birthday. We had a very simple and fulfilling Ramadan this year,Alhamdulillah. Hafiy 'puasa' (fast) for the first time but only made it till noon. At 5 years old, he still doesn't understand the concept of fasting  . He fasted so that he can 'berbuka' .He thought, if he doesn't fast, he cannot eat 'dinner'. Cute eh? hehe

Sewed my kids' baju raya and this time it's 3+1! Three raya tunics for the boys and a simple dress for cik kak.

Set a countdown for the whole process so that I could finish them on time (before raya, that is). Recorded my progress of the whole baju raya making process on Itsy Doodles's page. Managed to complete all four in 7 days.

And lastly..a quick update on Sofya at 5 months..

Weighs 6.9 kg, chuckles and laughed a lot, can roll on her tummy and back. Bought her first crinkle cloth book. But instead of read, she binged on them! Still not over those itchy gums i guess :)

Passport Sleeves for my recent trip

I was supposed to post this before I left for my trip to UK during the school holiday recently. But time didn't permit me to do so. I was busy packing for five people and getting the house spick and span before I left (yeah right *wink*). Had a great time and experience during the trip. If you are interested to read about it, hop over to my other blog here.

Anyway, I made 10 passport sleeves/ cover all together. They were for me, mr.hubby, my 3 kids, my mom and my two sisters who went along, and each for my aunty and uncle who are currently living in Hull, as gifts.

All 10 of them

Handmade birthday present for dear sister and cousin..

Some of you may have read on Hafiy's 4th birthday post here. Made a drawstring backpack for him. It wasn't his birthday present though. If was one of my UFo(s). Made from scraps i received from Nykolett.  Will write about that in another post (after I'm done with another two projects from the same scrap).

My sister, Nadira celebrated her 24th birthday on the 3rd of January. She had recently completed her studies in UiTM. Initially, a chef wannabe. She took Diploma in Culinary Arts. But then, changed her mind on working in long hours in hot and stuffy kitchen. So she pursued her degree in Culinary Arts Management.

For her, i made her the sling version of the Itsy Slouch Hobo bag. When I first came out with the bag, she asked me to make the sling version. So, I decided to make her one as her birthday present. Dearest Ya, this may not be a Guess or an Esprit or even a Fossil bag. But it was made with you in mind and with lotsa L.O.V.E. Hope you like it!

For a dear cousin who stays in New Zealand and who recently commissioned me with a BIG order to take back to NZ, I made her a passport sleeve. She'll be celebrating her birthday end of this months. Read about her BIG order here. How big was her order, take a look at the pic below ;).

Lunch & Appointment

Went all the way to Shah Alam for lunch yesterday. At a not so newly opened restaurant, Bouquet Garni. Amin had an appoinment with his friend, Shah who's one of the important person there (sorry, I don't know his professional position there hehehe).

The kids

The Lunch

Wide food selection

Delicious & Tasteful Food
Kimi wanted to eat Nasi Lemak. Served with 2 pieces of fried chicken, a hard boiled egg, sambal on the side & lotsa fried anchovies, groundnut & sliced cucumber. I ordered Chicken fingers from the Kids Meal Menu. for Hafiy. Very crispy and the serving was enough for 2 small kids. For myself was the Chef's Special Pasta- Pasta served with cili padi and coconut milk gravy (ala2 masak lemak gitu)..I LOVE IT! Amin had a bowl of Soto...It was delicious. and love the super large bergedil :). Oh..as for drinks..well, forgot to take pictures of those. The kids went for Milo & Sirap Bandung. I had Pandan Ice Tea while Amin had Mango juice.

The Appointment...

...was on wallpapers for the restaurant. Wallcovering Consultation & Services -something of my husband's interest and he does it on a part time basis. These are the latest designs. Very chic & gorgeous. And affordable too.  Interested? Give me a buzz. Consultation is FOC by the way ;).

Happy Birthday Ma!

It's my beloved Ma's birthday today. Made a huggy ruffle pillow for her. When I saw the Ginger Tiles print from Sandi Henderson at Lovemelots, I see my mother's name printed all over it heheheh ;P. Used the Ginger Tiles for the front side and Amy Butler's Memento in Burgundy for the ruffles & for the back side of the pillow.

Ties for closure

I was inspired by the way Rozi personalises pillows for her customer (you can read about it here), so I did the same with this pillow. But since I don't  have an embroidery machine, I just used the alphabet stitches available on my machine. It may not be as pretty as if it was embroidered but I love it :D.

As for the pillow case, I fell in love with the one made by lazyorganizer.com. However, Idid not use the measurement given as this pillow is a little smaller than the normal sleeping pillow. I made this 20" x 16". Oh..and I also skipped the quilting part (as I have yet to master that ;).

And...I also made a matching birthday card for her too. Can't wait to give Ma her present. Hope she's going to love it ;).

Dearest Ma,
Happy birthday!
Kami doakan Ma  diberikan kesihatan yang baik, dipanjangkan umur, dimurahkan rezeki dan
sentiasa didalam rahmat& keberkatan Allah didunia & akhirat.
We love you Ma!

Update : This pillow is entering the Blogger's  Pillow Party for January 2011 hosted by Stitched in Color.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri & Maaf Zahir Batin

Today is the 11th day of Syawal. And still very much in raya mood. Spent my (our) raya at my hubby's hometown in Teluk Intan. It was blessful & blissful :). And what made it super special was that my boys were wearing baju melayu that i had sewn myself :D

Kimi has always wanted a purple baju melayu so this year i decided to go with that colour, just for the boys. I bought  a note on how to sew baju melayu teluk belanga from Azura. And tutorials from Maya helped a lot too.

Here's picture of us in front of where my husband's grandma's house used to be...in the middle of the 'bendang' (paddy field). Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri & Maaf Zahir Batin from us!
